Lindsey Hassan launched MathsFirst in 2019 to share her passion for maths teaching and learning. Her aim is to inspire practitioners through her work with staff in educational settings and to motivate and enthuse children through specialised teaching and tutoring.
Lindsey qualified as a primary teacher in 2004 and has taught across all primary phases. She is an experienced Maths Lead, EYFS Lead and Senior Leader. She has worked with schools across the North-East delivering staff training, supporting practitioners and working with school leaders. Lindsey is Deputy Hub Lead for the Great North Maths Hub with responsibility for Subject Knowledge for Teaching for Mastery, ITT and she also leads their Mastery Readiness programme. Lindsey supports local universities as an external ITE primary maths tutor. She is currently studying for a masters in Mathematics Education through CIMT as well as undertaking subject specialism training to teach secondary mathematics. She is a fully qualified Forest School Leader with research interests in developing mathematical metacognition through forest school settings. She is a local authority governor, a NCETM Professional Development Accredited Lead and a member of the Association of Teachers of Mathematics.
